They joined forces with the University of Kent to identify research in line with the MoD&#8217;s priorities, securing over \u00a3100k of research funding.<\/p>\n<h2>The Challenge<\/h2>\n<p>Identify research funding opportunities which supported the MoD&#8217;s major priorities in human capabilities, materials and cyber security.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0The Approach<\/h2>\n<p>Dstl\u2019s Centre for Defence Enterprise (the Ministry of Defence\u2019s gateway to the outside world) developed close links with the University of Kent, and worked with us to identify specific research clusters that supported the MoD\u2019s major priorities.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-75 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kei-case-studies\/files\/2021\/06\/DSTL.jpg\" width=\"260\" height=\"173\" \/>&#8220;Universities benefit from our experts as lecturers or in supervisory roles, and Dstl benefits with access to specialist facilities, research and expertise.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px\">Jim Wilson, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px\">Dstl<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>The Result<\/h2>\n<p>Over \u00a3100k in project funding was secured. The funding contributed to multi-disciplinary project collaborations with the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, and the creation of academic fellowships with the School of Psychology and the School of Physical Sciences.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Kent has a rich vein of untapped expertise in key science and technology areas that can help address Dstl needs.
