A warm welcome to all our new students and welcome back to our returning students! We hope you have all had a restful summer and are ready to embark on your first – or next academic year with us at the Kent Business School (KBS).

It is an exciting time starting University or returning to start a fresh new year. We also know it can be overwhelming at times, and there is a lot to take in! Be assured that our fantastic university and staff are here to support you and help you get the best out of your academic journey. We are excited to have you with us!

Whether you’re a new or returning student in the Kent Business School, there is fantastic support on offer to you. Take a look at some of our services listed below to help you make the most of all the fantastic support services on offer to you. We wish you all a fantastic year ahead!
 

Academic Adviser
Your Academic Adviser is a dedicated staff member from the Kent Business School (KBS) who is assigned to you. They are here to support your academic journey, guide module choices, support your progress, personal development, provide feedback, and lots more to help you achieve great results. Your Academic Adviser should be your first point of contact if you need academic support; they can then guide or signpost you if necessary. 

Programmes Administration
During your time at the University, you will become familiar with the Programmes Administration team. They are here to support you with any timetabling queries, changes of course, modules, or seminar groups, and even exam queries – when it’s time! If you have any questions regarding your course, the team is here to help you ensure you get the right support and that things run smoothly for you. 

Research Programmes Administration
This team is dedicated to our fantastic Postgraduate Research (PGR) students. The team provides Postgraduate Research students with administration services such as change of course, intermission, but also extenuating circumstances and well-being support. If you are a PGR student but are struggling or need some extra support, reach out to the team! 

Engagement Support
If you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling with deadlines, are unwell, experiencing accommodation or financial difficulties, or even missing home, the Student Engagement Support team are here for you. They offer lots of support and guidance on extenuating circumstances, intermission, withdrawal, and attendance support too. Whatever the situation, reach out to the team when things first happen so they can help and provide the right support and guidance to you.  

Student Support and Wellbeing
Here at Kent, we are committed to the well-being and support of our students. From dedicated mental health advisors, specialist support to alternative therapies, counselling, disability, autism or wellbeing support – whatever you need, the team is here to support you during your University journey. If you are struggling or need some support, don’t hesitate to reach out to this fantastic team. 

Library Services and IT Support
It’s important to become familiar with the library and all its great services. From amazing study spaces, a huge selection of books and resources, digital libraries, and laptop loans, there is so much support on offer! Including your very own Academic Librarian who will be able to provide specialist support for your course at the Kent Business School (KBS). And not forgetting the fantastic IT Support team, who are based in the Library too. If you need any IT support, they can offer this in person, online or by phone.  

Careers and Employability
Whether you are a new student or a returning student, it is always important to be prepared and make the most of all the opportunities on offer during your time at University to support your future career. The Careers and Employability Service offers a whole host of services, advice, workshops and events. From tips on how to make applications, CVs and cover letters, finding a job, to interview preparation.  You can book 1-2-1 appointments with a careers advisor, and there is even an Employability Points scheme on offer to enhance your employability too!
