Do your bit for Race, Sexuality &#038; Disability in Business<\/p>\n<p>The event which will take place at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/hospitality\/virtual-tours\/student\/?\/medway\/academic-facilities\/medway-kent-business-school\">Sail and Colour Loft<\/a><strong>, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/locations\/medway\">Medway<\/a> will discuss how we can help to develop the UK Business Sector to ensure it is offering inclusive workplaces where no one feels a sense of inequality. His work focuses on embedding LGBT inclusion in universities through the Diversity Champions programme, which is designed to create LGBT-inclusive workplaces and services for employees and students alike.<\/p>\n<p>Through this programme, Stonewall works with over 850 organisations, all of whom share a core belief in the power of a workplace that is truly equal. Through them, they\u2019ve helped create inclusive and accepting environments for almost a quarter of the UK workforce.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jagdeep-rai-30b170b\/?originalSubdomain=uk\"><strong>Jagdeep Rai<\/strong><\/a><strong>, Regional Director, South &amp; East Business Banking, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hsbc.co.uk\/\"><strong>HSBC<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jagdeep is an experienced and dynamic leader, with a reputation for driving sustainable growth through core principles of strong people engagement and focused customer-centric activity and by making a positive impact in<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/files\/2020\/01\/jagdeep.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9002 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/files\/2020\/01\/jagdeep-300x274.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/files\/2020\/01\/jagdeep-300x274.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/files\/2020\/01\/jagdeep.png 431w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> local communities.<\/p>\n<p>She feels strongly about the gender and multicultural diversity agendas, in particular, the development of females and BAME (Black, Asian and minority ethnic) individuals into senior positions, as well as supporting the development and growth of young adults. Jagdeep is also passionate about the female entrepreneurship agenda and has initiated and led market-leading initiatives in this area.<\/p>\n<p>She regularly contributes as a key-note speaker and panellist across a wide variety of forums and has received significant external recognition over recent years. Their research findings informed a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/decoloniseukc.files.wordpress.com\/2019\/03\/decolonising-the-curriculum-manifesto-final-2.pdf\">Manifesto\u00a0<\/a>that\u00a0identified steps to enhance inclusivity, identity and academic performance at Kent. Lisa presented their Manifesto to Rt Hon John Bercow MP earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>There is now a\u00a0dedicated Diversify the Curriculum\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.decoloniseukc.org\/\">website<\/a>\u00a0set up by students and a\u00a0podcast series, created by students, called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/decoloniseukc.org\/2019\/02\/27\/stripping-the-white-walls-ep-1-the-introduction\/\">Stripping the White Walls. Students who led the Decolonize UKC movement\u00a0<\/a>alongside Lisa also\u00a0presented the Manifesto to Baroness Valerie Amos, Director of SOAS, at a joint SOAS\/UUK event in June on \u2018The BAME Attainment Gap.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>They inspired the establishment of a Kaleidoscope Network at Kent for staff and students who support the principles of race equality; the establishment of a BAME Network for Staff of Colour at Kent; and the implementation of new training in cultural competency as part of Kent\u2019s PGCHE.
