{"id":7801,"date":"2019-06-20T16:12:03","date_gmt":"2019-06-20T15:12:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/?p=7801"},"modified":"2020-04-29T15:33:08","modified_gmt":"2020-04-29T14:33:08","slug":"kbs-staff-win-21-above-and-beyond-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/2019\/06\/kbs-staff-win-21-above-and-beyond-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"KBS Staff Win 22 above and Beyond Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Eighteen members of Kent Business School (KBS) staff win Above and Beyond Awards<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/student\/news\/?id=9483&amp;source=blog\">Above and Beyond Awards<\/a> were launched by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kentunion.co.uk\/\">Kent Union\u00a0<\/a>to celebrate outstanding members of staff. Students can nominate academic and non-academic staff who they believe have gone above and beyond in their role.<\/p>\n<p>The awards have no official ceremony but the winners are presented with an Above and Beyond mug and certificate, featuring comments from the student\/s that nominated them.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Education at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/\">KBS<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/people\/profiles\/stone-zita.html\">Dr Zita Stone<\/a> said <em>\u2018KBS works constantly works at improving the education experience for all involved: for students to have a transformative learning experience, for staff to lead inspirational classes and for external partners to benefit from the highly employable graduates the education process produces\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This year, eighteen of Kent Business School\u2019s staff have won the award, with four individuals winning two awards:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/people\/profiles\/smith-adam.html\">Adam Smith<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Alexandra Williams <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/people\/profiles\/badewi-amgad.html\">Dr Amgad Badewi<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/people\/profiles\/esposito-amideo-annunziata.html\">Annunziata Esposito Amideo<\/a><\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nancyaukna\/status\/1131975474958295040\">tweeted<\/a> \u2013 \u2018So nice when students appreciate your hard work and then you get an #aboveandbeyondaward! The award is a further incentive to do my best to make my students\u2019 time at the University of Kent as productive and enjoyable as possible\u2019<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/people\/profiles\/voukelatos-nikolaos.html\">Dr Nikolaos Voukelatos<\/a><\/strong><strong>\u00a0x 2<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/people\/profiles\/lee-pak-yee.html\">Dr Pak Yee Lee\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/people\/profiles\/yu-qionglei.html\">Dr Qionglei Yu<\/a><\/strong><strong> \u2013 <\/strong><em>\u2018Students&#8217; comments on my teaching style\u00a0is the best present for me. This\u00a0becomes such an inspiration that\u00a0keeps me trying\u00a0more\u00a0innovative ways to deliver and impact\u00a0knowledge. I hope both my students and myself\u00a0are\u00a0enjoying our learning trips\u2019<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/people\/profiles\/king-timothy.html\">Dr Timothy King<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 \u2018<em>I am delighted to win this award, which recognises my student first approach to teaching and feedback. I strongly believe that students should be exposed to enthusiastic, research-led teaching in a stimulating environment that encourages them to learn and to truly question.
