{"id":6672,"date":"2018-05-09T12:02:45","date_gmt":"2018-05-09T11:02:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/?p=6672"},"modified":"2022-02-22T21:03:59","modified_gmt":"2022-02-22T21:03:59","slug":"kent-business-school-academic-among-winners-of-global-research-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/2018\/05\/kent-business-school-academic-among-winners-of-global-research-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Business School Academic Among Winners of Global Research Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Two University of Kent academics, Dr Jaideep Oberoi from Kent Business School and Professor Miguel L\u00e9on-Ledesma from the School of Economics, are among the winners of this year\u2019s research prize from the International Centre for Pension Management. <\/p>\n<p>The ICPM research prize winners receive an invitation to present at organisation\u2019s bi-annual Discussion Forums, which connect leading pension sector experts and academics from around the world. They also receive a cash award of $10,000 Canadian dollars.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/icpmnetwork.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ICPM<\/a> the quality of submissions was universally high.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cEvery year, we&#8217;re reminded from our Calls for Research that organisations across the globe are tackling similar pension and investment-related challenges,&#8221;<\/em> sais Rob Bauer, ICPM Executive Director. <em>&#8220;It is important to encourage research so that we can all access shared knowledge to develop best practices.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s prizes went to researchers from globally leading institutions such as Harvard Business School, London Business School, Stanford University and Cambridge Judge Business School.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/staff\/profiles\/miguel-leon-ledesma.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor L\u00e9on-Ledesma<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/people\/profiles\/oberoi-jaideep.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr Oberoi<\/a>, the University of Kent\u2019s winning paper, <a href=\"http:\/\/icpmnetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/OLG_paper_Demography_and_Assets_Rybczynski_AcknowledgeCorrect-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Population Structure and Asset Values<\/em><\/a>, was co-authored by fellow academics from other institutions. From the University of Waterloo was Stephen Bonnar, Lori Curtis and Kate Rybczynski, and from the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) was Mark Zhou.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Oberoi said: <em>\u201cDemographic transitions are front-of-mind for policy makers on a number of issues around the world. We are delighted to receive this opportunity to showcase our research to a global network of thought leaders.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>ICPM is a global, research-based network of pension organisations that stimulates leading-edge thinking and practice about pension design and management. The network is composed of world-leading pension delivery organisations that collectively manage over US$3.5 trillion in assets. He has a PhD in Finance from McGill University, a Masters in Economics from Concordia University, and\u00a0a degree in Economics from the University of Delhi.
