Efficiency, efficiency, efficiency! That\u2019s the mantra of pretty much any business that wants to stay in business these days. But how do you actually go about doing this? The Management Science Group<\/a> at Kent Business School<\/a> uses a range of tools within the field of Business Analytics<\/a> that can help businesses see tangible efficiency gains.<\/p>\n Broadly speaking, Business Analytics<\/a> is the art of modelling and analysis. It includes a range of techniques that many have heard of \u2013 statistical analysis, data mining, forecasting and regression, optimisation, simulation \u2013 but may not be familiar with how they can actually be used in practice to interpret data, forecast trends, automate and streamline decisions, and optimise courses of action.<\/p>\n At our Business Soundbites event on Thursday 11 May, I will be talking in more detail about ways in which our team can make your company operate more efficiently. A showcase of two ongoing projects with the Port of Dover<\/a> and Priority Freight<\/a> will be used to see how Business Analytics<\/a> techniques have helped these two companies stay on top of a rapidly changing business environment through the respective use of state-of-the-art discrete-event simulation modelling and vehicle scheduling heuristics.
