{"id":4714,"date":"2020-07-21T10:45:56","date_gmt":"2020-07-21T10:45:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-matters\/?p=4714"},"modified":"2023-03-30T09:16:41","modified_gmt":"2023-03-30T08:16:41","slug":"santander-universities-offer-kbs-graduates-the-opportunity-to-accelerate-their-businesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/2020\/07\/santander-universities-offer-kbs-graduates-the-opportunity-to-accelerate-their-businesses\/","title":{"rendered":"Santander Universities Offer KBS Graduates the Opportunity to Accelerate Their Businesses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Two Kent Business School graduates are being given the opportunity to accelerate their businesses with funding from Santander Universities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/868\/marketing-bsc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marketing<\/a> graduates, Devonte Richards and Elizabeth Simpson have been awarded grants enabling them to work full-time on their start-ups.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-matters\/files\/2020\/07\/Devonte-Richards.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-4817 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-matters\/files\/2020\/07\/Devonte-Richards-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"608\" height=\"406\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Devonte\u2019s business is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/richrags_\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rich Rags<\/a> a luxury brand selling durags, bonnets and pillowcases. He plans to renew his website and focus on building his social media following leading up to a business re-launch with a pop-up shop. He said:This intense 8-week period will allow me to build on the last 2 years of running my business and give me the resources to pull together what I have achieved so far.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I am looking forward to combining the theoretical knowledge gained whilst studying at university with the experience I have gained running my business to date.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Elizabeth, founder of <a style=\"color: #2a6496\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sorottenuk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SOROTTEN<\/a> plans to grow her business to its fullest potential and give it her undivided attention. After the 8 week programme, she would like to finally get the ball rolling with tools and tips from both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santander.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Santander<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-school\/facilities\/aspire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ASPIRE<\/a> to show what SOROTTEN \u00a0is capable of becoming.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-matters\/files\/2020\/07\/Elizabeth.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-4816 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-matters\/files\/2020\/07\/Elizabeth-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"527\" height=\"351\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I would like to achieve and learn so much through this process and hit new goals.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Both Devonte and Elizabeth have been working with a digital marketing agency,<a href=\"https:\/\/dodgemsandfloss.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Dodgems and Floss<\/a>, on perfecting the creation of customer personas and messaging for their campaigns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-matters\/2020\/06\/25\/the-business-start-up-journey-2020-21\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Find out more about the Business Start-Up Journey 2020-21<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two Kent Business School graduates are being given the opportunity to accelerate their businesses with funding from Santander Universities.
