{"id":3611,"date":"2014-12-19T13:36:50","date_gmt":"2014-12-19T13:36:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/?p=3611"},"modified":"2022-02-22T21:21:45","modified_gmt":"2022-02-22T21:21:45","slug":"kent-business-school-achieves-ref-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/2014\/12\/kent-business-school-achieves-ref-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Business School achieves REF success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent Business School at the University of Kent, has confirmed its position as a leading business school carrying out <a title=\"world-class research\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/research\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">world-class research<\/a>, according to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Kent Business School was placed 25th in the UK for business and management studies on its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/school\/news.html?view=3619\">&#8216;research intensity&#8217;<\/a>, and was\u00a0ranked 24th for its depth and breadth of research across the whole community of research active staff.<\/p>\n<p>Kent Business School\u2019s overall GPA weighted ranking positions the School at 32 in the UK for business and management studies.<\/p>\n<p>Kent Business School has 67% of research regarded as \u201cworld leading\u201d or \u201cinternationally excellent\u201d with wide ranging impacts on society, the economy, culture, health and welfare, public policy and the environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research Power<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kent Business School is ranked 32 in the UK on a measure of \u2018research power\u2019, which takes into account both the number of research-active staff and the quality of research submitted.<\/p>\n<p>Combined with the School\u2019s strong GPA for 3-star and 4-star research that is ranked 33 in the UK, Kent Business School is firmly placed in the second quartile of all business schools for its research.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Major impact<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the first time, REF measured the impact of research beyond academia in areas such as society, economy, culture and environment. 76% of research submitted by Kent Business School gained the top 3 or 4-star rating for its impact, deeming it either \u201coutstanding\u201d or \u201cvery considerable\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Professor Martin Meyer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kbs\/profiles\/staff\/meyer_martin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Martin Meyer<\/a>, School Director, said: <em>\u201cI would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our academics for their hard work towards securing a solid return for our School.
