{"id":22573,"date":"2025-01-27T17:08:16","date_gmt":"2025-01-27T17:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/?p=22573"},"modified":"2025-02-01T09:09:29","modified_gmt":"2025-02-01T09:09:29","slug":"22573","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/2025\/01\/22573\/","title":{"rendered":"Global award for innovative learning initiative exclusive to KBS graduates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent Business School\u2019s innovative\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-school\/kbsalumni\/alumni-summer-schools#:~:text=The%20KBS%20alumni%20and%20MBA,impacting%20you%20and%20your%20organisations.\">Alumni Summer School<\/a>\u00a0has been awarded \u2018Best Lifelong Learning Initiative 2025\u2019 by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amba-bga.com\/amba\">Association of MBAs<\/a>\u00a0(AMBA) and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amba-bga.com\/bga\">Business Graduates Association<\/a>\u00a0(BGA).<\/p>\n<p>The award showcases the impact and success of lifelong learning initiatives and their transformative effect not only on students and alumni but also on the business school itself. In particular it celebrates initiatives that have addressed skills gaps in both local and global markets.<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2023, Kent\u2019s hybrid Summer School programme provides KBS alumni with the opportunity to reconnect with the Business School and join the latest discussions around current business issues. The initiative is building a supportive community founded on genuine friendships and respect, harnessing the joy of learning and ultimately, up-skilling Kent alumni with skills and knowledge relevant to their chosen careers.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The award was presented at a gala ceremony at the Royal Garden Hotel in London, attended by more than 200 business school leaders with category finalists, judges and members of the media. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Amongst those also recognised was Kent MBA student and dedicated NHS professional,\u202f<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-school\/mba\/our-mba-community\/726\/caroline-knott\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Caroline Knott<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, who came \u2018Highly Commended\u2019 for the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">AMBA Student of the Year Award<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Caroline is a Queens Nurse with 29 years\u2019 experience of clinical work under her belt. After 21\u202fyears as a Bladder and Bowel Specialist Nurse, she was seconded to lead the operations involved in the implementation of a new electronic patient record in 2020. With ambitions to progress into other strategic roles in the NHS,\u202f<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-school\/mba\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">she chose to study an MBA at Kent<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fto develop her strategic skills further.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22595\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22595\" style=\"width: 2000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/files\/2025\/01\/at-amba-awards-2025.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-22595 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/files\/2025\/01\/at-amba-awards-2025.jpg\" alt=\"Caroline Knott at the awards\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1333\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22595\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8216;Highly Commended&#8217; Student of the Year, Caroline Knott (left) with former MBA Director, Debbie Kemp (right) and MBA and Alumni Officer, Lynne Dickens<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Kent\u2019s Acting Vice-Chancellor and President,\u202f<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/office-vice-chancellor\/executive-group\/georgina-randsley-de-moura\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Professor Georgina Randsley De Moura<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, also attended the awards ceremony after having been shortlisted for the\u202f<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Postgraduate Leadership Award<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fin honour of her contribution to higher education following her graduation from Kent Business School\u2019s MBA programme in 2016.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">David Williams, Director of Academic Development at Kent Business School, said: \u2018The Alumni Summer School perfectly illustrates KBS\u2019 commitment to delivering outstanding education to, and providing continuing development opportunities for, mature learners. We are immensely proud of the MBA alumni, students, and academic and professional staff who come together to make the Summer School a success each year, and we are grateful to AMBA for their recognition of the high standards we aspire to maintain on the course.\u2019<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of AMBA and BGA said: \u2018This year, the competition was stronger than ever \u2013 with the highest number of entries ever. The entries who have made the final shortlist in each category should feel proud of their achievements.
