Taking a degree with Kent Business School offers the theoretical knowledge in your chosen topic, that you need.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But more importantly, it will give you the opportunity to put this knowledge into practice with tailored activities, placements and co-curricular opportunities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve got lots of links to local, and international businesses who are keen to work with our undergraduates to give them a slice of life in the real business world.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pitch perfect\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our regular Pitch It! Competition sees students work together in the form of a consultancy, to address a business challenge by a firm.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pitch It! Spans four to six weeks and then you get to pitch back your findings in a presentational style expected in the workplace.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the past, our teams of students have worked with the likes of Sony, English Heritage, Turner Contemporary, Macknade and many more.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Finding your finance feet\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Did you know that in the Sibson Building you will find a real-life trading floor simulator? <\/span>The Bloomberg Lab<\/span><\/a> offers real world data on the stock markets for you to use as part of your studies.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If stocks and shares are your thing, we also run an annual <\/span>Financial Trading Competition,<\/span><\/a> with students battling against one another for a prize.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Year in industry\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Every single Kent Business School undergraduate degree comes with the option of a <\/span>Year in Industry,<\/span><\/a> a salaried year that is self-sought, but heavily supported by our Employability Teams.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our students have worked with exciting big brands like Disney Microsoft, Warner Bros and London based banks, while others have cut their teeth at smaller, local firms and start ups.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The sky is the limit and your placement year could be an option you hadn\u2019t considered before or something you’ve always aspired to work in. <\/span><\/p>\n

Many companies will allow you to try various roles throughout the year, and a taster for different fields.\u00a0<\/span> You can also take a Year in Industry abroad, like Diya<\/a> did, who now works as a successful auditor in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, some of our Year in Industry students get the offer of a graduate job – like Business and Management graduate, <\/span>Ruby Hamilton<\/span><\/a> (pictured above) who scooped a great role at Microsoft. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ASPIRE and the Business Start Up Journey\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our ASPIRE<\/a> labs at Medway and Canterbury offer a unique and exciting entrepreneurial education via informal drop-in sessions and our Business Start-up journey. They also support our Selfie Year students \u2013 who take their year in industry to start their own venture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Business Start Up Journey is a competition to bring your ideas to life in a 15-week programme that ends with a Dragons Den style pitching competition and the ability to win some cash to inject into your start-up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Former students like <\/span>Emay (pictured above)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0who launched his fashion brand Jehucal with ASPIRE now has a <\/span>six-figure business with a celebrity following, countless media appearances and collaborations with famous brands.<\/p>\n

Placements and industry visits<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As well as the opportunity to take a Year in Industry, there are plenty of opportunities to find placements, internships and volunteering opportunities at businesses as you study.<\/p>\n

Our Employability Teams work closely with local, national and international businesses to ensure students are up to date with all the right opportunities.<\/p>\n

Joy Nyarko is studying\u202fBSc Accounting, Finance and Economics.<\/a> She works as Campus Ambassador for\u202fSEO London.<\/a>\u202f\u00a0 With their help, and the help of other organisations in the field, she\u2019s secured internships at financial institutions like Goldman Sachs.<\/p>\n
