{"id":18710,"date":"2023-02-01T17:13:12","date_gmt":"2023-02-01T17:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/?p=18710"},"modified":"2024-07-30T09:41:43","modified_gmt":"2024-07-30T08:41:43","slug":"join-our-mba-guest-lecture-series-event-embracing-equity-in-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/2023\/02\/join-our-mba-guest-lecture-series-event-embracing-equity-in-business\/","title":{"rendered":"Join our MBA Guest Lecture Series event \u2013 Embracing Equity in Business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our exciting MBA Guest Lecture Series continues on<strong>\u00a0Friday 10 March 2023<\/strong>, covering the important topics of diversity and inclusion with a focus on women in leadership.<\/p>\n<p>The free event, hosted by MBA Course Director,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-school\/people\/senior-leadership-team\/2401\/kemp-debbie\">Debbie Kemp,<\/a>\u00a0will run from\u00a0<strong>12.30pm until 14.00pm (GMT)<\/strong> on Zoom and will include panel discussions, insightful guest speakers and time for breakout sessions and Q&amp;A.<\/p>\n<p>It will be led by Kent MBA Women in Leadership Scholar, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/thekentmbacommunity\/2021\/10\/20\/lola-osideko-johnson\/\">Lola Osideko-Johnson<\/a>\u00a0in conjunction with two of this year\u2019s full-time MBA students, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/thekentmbacommunity\/2022\/10\/19\/soumashree-chandra\/\">Soumashree Chandra<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/thekentmbacommunity\/2022\/10\/19\/inetina-ebitonmor\/\">Inetina Ebitonmor<\/a> (pictured above).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/files\/2023\/01\/Embrace-Equity-0047-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18756\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/files\/2023\/01\/Embrace-Equity-0047-2.jpg\" alt=\"MBA student embracing equity\" width=\"1200\" height=\"798\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Details of the guest speaker(s) will be released shortly; however, it is no coincidence that the lecture is timed to coincide with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.internationalwomensday.com\/\">International Women\u2019s Day<\/a>. This year\u2019s IWD campaign theme is <strong>#EmbraceEquity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEquity isn\u2019t just a nice-to-have, it\u2019s a must have. A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society\u2019s DNA. And it\u2019s critical to understand the difference between <strong><em>equity <\/em><\/strong>and <strong><em>equality<\/em><\/strong>.
