A Free Interactive Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: black\">On-demand work in the so-called &#8216;gig economy&#8217; is increasingly commonplace, but very l<\/span><span style=\"color: black\">ittle is known about how such workers experience careers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black\">Kent Business School academics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-school\/people\/2423\/koch-michael\">Dr Michael Koch<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-school\/people\/2462\/park-sarah\">Dr Sarah Park<\/a> set out to find out more by interviewing gig economy workers in the United Kingdom and Germany to understand the motives and constraints behind the career choice. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black\">Their findings illustrate a wide variety of experiences of temporary work and short contracts. On one hand, gig work helps many people to achieve work-life balance, develop new skills and fulfil their career goals. On the other hand, gig work can also be financially insecure, stressful and unsatisfying.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Join this KBS interactive event to explore the research findings from the project,\u00a0 based on interviews with fifty gig economy workers.
