On\u00a0Monday 28 June\u00a0our\u00a0MBA Class of 2021\u00a0<\/a>took to\u00a0York for\u00a0their\u00a0Study Tour\u00a0to mark\u00a0the end of a successful year of learning at Kent Business School.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The much-awaited\u00a0trip\u00a0saw the group of\u00a021\u00a0immerse themselves in an\u00a0inspiring and\u00a0action-packed\u00a0four-day\u00a0tour\u00a0filled\u00a0with team\u00a0building activities and unique insights into successful businesses in\u00a0the\u00a0York area.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Staying at the 5* York Grand Hotel,<\/a> the trip was just the remedy to a particularly challenging year of remote study following the COVID-19 national pandemic.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an excellent experience and really achieved the aim of team bonding,<\/em>\u201d\u00a0Ruth\u00a0Moemken, MBA Student and Strategic Delivery Manager, NHS Foundation Trust said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt great to be together as a group after online classes<\/em>,\u201d added MBA Student and Finance Manager at LifeNet International, Tione Chakhwantha.<\/p>\n

On the first day of the tour, the group were invited to the Chairman\u2019s Suite at The Grand Hotel for their first Business Experience talk, led by Simon, The General Manager.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There, they learned about the\u00a0impact the pandemic has had on the hotel industry in one of the most popular UK tourist destinations and how they have mitigated the risks to survive.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was informative to be given insight into the market and an understanding of the importance of staying flexible<\/em>,\u201d explains MBA graduate Nicholas Ford, Director at Regent Electrical Distributors<\/p>\n

Subsequently, interiors giant Made.com<\/a> opened their doors to our MBA group. Manager Andy gave insight into how the company has coped with the added demand and the pressures of both the pandemic and Brexit.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There, they found out about the issues surrounding supply chain and other resources. This was followed by a Q&A and a chance to reflect on the strategic direction of the company.<\/span><\/p>\n

The evenings were awash with activity including a night of competitive bowling\u00a0and an evening spent mastering culinary techniques with\u00a0York Cookery School\u00a0which continued into day three as the group enjoyed\u00a0a day of adventure sports\u00a0Quad Biking, Segway and Archery<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The trip ended with a\u00a0two-hour\u00a0Self-Reflection workshop run by Debbie Kemp<\/a>, the MBA Director. The workshop gave students time to reflect on their learning journey on the MBA and how this has impacted on their ambitions after they graduate. Students considered what would make them happy and their purpose in life to make a difference to their families and their communities both locally and globally.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“The Annual MBA Study Tour is a highlight of the year for both full time and part-time students who have a final opportunity to forge life-long relationships in a more relaxed setting as well as being inspired by local business leaders. The beautiful city of York did not disappoint, and this year’s graduates were great fun to work with<\/em>,” concluded Debbie.<\/span><\/p>\n
