{"id":10309,"date":"2021-02-25T16:20:06","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T16:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/?p=10309"},"modified":"2021-04-07T14:33:13","modified_gmt":"2021-04-07T13:33:13","slug":"kbs-professor-appointed-ambassador-for-the-institute-of-directors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kbs-news-events\/2021\/02\/kbs-professor-appointed-ambassador-for-the-institute-of-directors\/","title":{"rendered":"KBS Professor Appointed Ambassador for The Institute of Directors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Patricia Lewis, Professor of Management at Kent Business School, has been appointed Ambassador for Education and Skills for the Kent arm of The Institute of Directors.\ufeff<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iod.com\/\">IOD<\/a> is a business organisation for company directors, senior business leaders and entrepreneurs and stands for free enterprise, entrepreneurship, wealth creation and good corporate governance.\u00a0 IoD ambassadors drive greater connectivity with members, support learning and development and give a local voice to the Institute, while ensuring that IoD national policy reflects local issues.<\/p>\n<p>She is naturally excited about the role:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I am delighted to take up the role of Institute of Directors (Kent) Ambassador for Education and Skills. I see it as a great opportunity to support and build on the existing relationship between the IoD and KBS.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Through this role, we can bring our students closer to our business partners, enhancing mutual understanding of the challenges that businesses face regionally, nationally, and internationally, and how these may be addressed through collaborative and relational engagement.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-school\/people\/2460\/lewis-patricia\">Professor Lewis<\/a>, who has operated in the field of gender and organisation studies for more than 20 years is Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/pmo\/\">People, Management and Organisation Group<\/a> at KBS.<\/p>\n<p>Her research on gendered identity includes investigations of the masculine norm, authenticity and post-feminist femininities in entrepreneurial and organisational contexts. Her current research explores leadership in the City of London.<\/p>\n<p>She has won numerous awards for her academic work including Best Developmental Paper for \u2018Affect and Postfeminism: Exploring the Affective Constitution of Subjectivity by Leaders in the City of London\u2019, presented to her at the British Academy of Management 2020 Conference in the Cloud.<\/p>\n<p>As well as the CMI accredited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/postgraduate\/3266\/management\">MSc Management<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/postgraduate\/299\/international-business-management\">MSc International Business and Management,<\/a> those at an undergraduate level can study a CMI accredited<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/1399\/management\"> BSc in Management<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To discover what KBS\u2019s Management programmes can offer you, visit our website and see for yourself the contents of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/1399\/management\">BSc Management <\/a><\/strong><strong>and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/postgraduate\/3266\/management\"> MSc Management<\/a><\/strong><strong>\u00a0courses we offer.
