FAQs
The Careers and Employability Service have published a set of FAQs on their site. These are updated regularly and are a good source of information.
Job Market
Although there is a clear drop in job roles in a number of industries there is demand in others, especially within healthcare, retail, hardware and networking, It is worth thinking about skills you can gain in different areas which can be built up and transferred to other sectors in the future. It is also worth noting that a number of large employers are moving to virtual recruitment on onboarding and some are pausing their recruitment but may open up again later in the year. Although there are fewer opportunities it is important to remain motivated and active in your job search and to use the resources of our careers staff.
Placements
Please do inform the placement team if your placement is cancelled or the start date is delayed. Please do also inform us if you are successful in gaining a placement as it is very important that we approve the placement before you start. A number of employers are still recruiting placement students. If you are worried about your placement year please do talk to us.
Events
The central Careers and Employability Service are running weekly employability events. Check the calendar and sign up here
