The University has made significant investments in our Wi-Fi service over the last couple of years. The programme has been led by Information Services, with the aim of ensuring fast, reliable Wi-Fi for students, staff and visitors across all our campuses and buildings.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve focussed particularly on teaching, study and social spaces in recent months, and we\u2019re now concentrating our upgrades in accommodation across campus. We’ve recently rolled out Wi-Fi 6, also known as ‘high-efficiency wireless’, which \u00a0delivers the most benefit in very densely packed areas where it can handle more connections and more traffic than previous generations of Wi-Fi technology.<\/p>\n
In the Templeman Library Wi-Fi 6 has help us to deliver a robust, consistent and fast service, even when we have in excess of 2,000 Wi-Fi connected devices running a huge variety of software and apps. We\u2019ve also upgraded Wi-Fi in The Venue, ensuring that even on the busiest of nights everyone gets a fast and reliable connection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Improving the University\u2019s Wi-Fi is an ongoing process. At the start of 2023 Information Services introduced a new Wi-Fi feature called \u2018Fastlane\u2019, which helps ensure video and audio calls are smooth and reliable on the recent models of Apple phones and tablets, even in the busiest environments.<\/p>\n Whether you\u2019re working on your latest assignment, in a Zoom call with your family, or uploading to TikTok, remember good Wi-Fi doesn\u2019t just happen, our dedicated team continue to work to deliver an excellent service. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
