They will apply to journal articles and conference proceedings arising from UKRI funded projects (AHRC, ESRC, EPSRC, MRC, BBSRC, NERC, STFC).<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>The new policy:<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Requires <strong>immediate OA upon publication with no restrictions<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Needs you to think carefully when <strong>choosing a journal<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Relies heavily on use of our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/guides\/open-access-at-kent\/article-processing-charges-apcs\/read-and-publish-agreements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Read and Publish agreements<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Restricts the use of<strong> UKRI APC funds<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Requires you to <strong>take action upon submission<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>You need to:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read <\/strong>our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/guides\/open-access-at-kent\/open-access-and-ukri-funded-projects\">Open Access and UKRI funded projects guide<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Follow <\/strong>the workflow recommended in our <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/r\/g82re7eTmK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Check before you choose \u2013 how to comply with the UKRI Open Access Policy document<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Attend<\/strong> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/graduate-researcher-college\/academic-and-research-staff\/training-and-development\/is-research-and-scholarly-communication-support-training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open Research \u2013 How to do it Grants Factory sessions<\/a> or listen to the recordings (coming soon)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Books and book chapters<\/h1>\n<p>New requirements for books and book chapters arising from UKRI funded projects come into force on 1 January 2024.
