This will improve the security of your Kent IT Account.<\/p>\n<h2>What this means\u202ffor you<\/h2>\n<p>When MFA has been added to your account, the next time you sign into email or another Kent online service from off campus you\u2019ll be asked to set up a second authentication method. This will be used as an\u202fextra\u202flayer of\u202fsecurity\u202fwhen you access services from off campus.<\/p>\n<h2>What you\u202fneed to do<\/h2>\n<p>When MFA has been added to your account, the next time you log on to Kent services from off campus you will see this prompt:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/files\/2021\/07\/ms-signin-prompt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19223 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/files\/2021\/07\/ms-signin-prompt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"397\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are on a mobile, we recommend you switch to a laptop or computer, and visit <a href=\"http:\/\/office.com\">office.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sign\u202fin with your Kent IT\u202fAccount\u202fdetails,\u202fand follow the on-screen instructions\u202ffor\u202fyour preferred authentication method:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Microsoft Authenticator phone app (recommended)\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure you complete all the steps when setting up<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>SMS text message, or<\/li>\n<li>phone call\u202f(mobile or landline)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More detailed\u202fadvice:\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/guides\/multi-factor-authentication-mfa\">Multi-factor authentication\u202f(MFA)\u202fguide<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Manage your own security settings<\/h2>\n<p>If you change your phone make sure that you keep your security authentication methods up to date &#8211; remove them from your old phone and set them up for your new device(s).<\/p>\n<p>We recommend that you also set up an alternative authentication method (that&#8217;s different from your primary authentication method).
