Creative Commons licences <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">range from\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">CC0 which is the least restrictive to CC BY-NC-ND which places restrictions on reuse.\u00a0(Have a look at\u00a0our\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/research\/open-access\/copyright.html\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">web page about copyright and licences for your own work<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.)<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559685&quot;:0,&quot;335559731&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559991&quot;:720}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The only licences under this schema that are\u00a0truly open access\u00a0are CC0, CC BY and CC BY-SA. The CC BY\u00a0licence is standard for\u00a0funder\u00a0open access policies. It is required by UKRI,\u00a0Wellcome\u00a0and other signatories to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coalition-s.org\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Plan S<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, including the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/osc\/2020\/04\/14\/plan-s-where-are-we-now\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">University of Kent<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Therefore, if you are using UKRI, Wellcome, European Commission or University of Kent funds you should select a CC BY licence<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559685&quot;:0,&quot;335559731&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559991&quot;:720}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Why we recommend CC BY<\/span><\/b><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">CC BY: This is the most open licence, but it still requires the re-user to give attribution to the author and include a full citation when any derivative works, or copies are distributed (that is the BY bit).
