{"id":14132,"date":"2019-09-23T09:21:15","date_gmt":"2019-09-23T08:21:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/?p=14132"},"modified":"2023-01-20T17:25:04","modified_gmt":"2023-01-20T17:25:04","slug":"expanding-diversity-in-our-library-collections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/expanding-diversity-in-our-library-collections\/","title":{"rendered":"Expanding diversity in our library collections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following on from the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/kent-recognised-for-award-winning-work-on-diversifying-reading-lists\/\">award winning Diversity Mark<\/a> pilots at the University of Kent, the library have developed a range of\u00a0tools to help academics include a diverse range of perspectives and authors with equality across race, gender, sexuality, disability, internationalisation and socio-economic contexts.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/readinglists\/help\/diversify.html\">new webpage<\/a> provides a number of practical tips to help staff review and update their reading lists including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>links to resources that provide diverse content for teaching support<\/li>\n<li>examples from other institutions<\/li>\n<li>advice on maintaining current awareness across disciplines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Increasing belonging<\/h2>\n<p>Evidence suggests that course materials that are inclusive to a diverse student body have a positive impact.
