Are all your outputs correctly linked to you? Are the affiliations correct? Are you happy with your author profile?<br \/>\nAlthough these things should happen automatically, mistakes do happen and may affect indicators such as citation counts.  This, in turn, may influence representations of your academic output and assessments of your academic impact.<br \/>\nThis post outlines how to check databases and request alterations.\n  <\/p>\n<p>See our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/research\/impact\/index.html\">Impact and Sharing web pages<\/a>\u00a0for background information and an introduction to the tools used to assess the academic impact of your work.<\/p>\n<h2>Scopus<\/h2>\n<p>You may want to have a look at this video: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4_gGIuZhMnw\">Get started with Scopus<span class=\"forPrint\"><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Check your profile and publications<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scopus.com\/\">Scopus<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>via the Library webpages\n<ul>\n<li>click <strong>Login<\/strong> (top right), then <strong>Other Institution login<\/strong>, then choose &#8216;UK Access Management Federation&#8217; from the drop down list, then click <strong>University of Kent<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Log in with your usual University of Kent username and password.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Authors\u00a0<\/strong>to carry out an Author Search. Enter your details. The names of authors with similar details may be displayed, tick the box next to the entry that relates to you. Select <strong>Show Documents<\/strong>. Click on the title of each document to see the full details.<\/li>\n<li>If publications are not displaying under your name, go back and search for the individual items. Select <strong>Search<\/strong>, then <strong>Documents<\/strong> and search for each publication using keywords.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Your publication is not listed<\/h4>\n<p>If your publication doesn&#8217;t appear to be available in Scopus, make a request for it to be added using the web form to <a href=\"https:\/\/service.elsevier.com\/app\/answers\/detail\/a_id\/14595\/supporthub\/scopuscontent\/\">Add a missing document<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>The entry for your publication contains an error<\/h4>\n<p>If an entry for a publication contains mistakes such as incorrect spelling, request corrections using the web form for a <a href=\"https:\/\/service.elsevier.com\/app\/answers\/detail\/a_id\/14593\/c\/14684\/supporthub\/scopuscontent\/related\/1\/\">Document Correction<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Some of your publications are missing when you search under your name<\/h4>\n<p>If some of your publications appear in Scopus but are not not listed under an Author search for your name, make a request for these to be added to your profile using the <a href=\"https:\/\/service.elsevier.com\/app\/answers\/detail\/a_id\/14550\/c\/14684\/supporthub\/scopuscontent\/\">Author Feedback Wizard<\/a>. You can also use this if you find you have two author profiles in Scopus and wish to merge them.<\/p>\n<h4>Your name or affiliation in the author profile needs changing<\/h4>\n<p>If you wish to correct your name or affiliation in your Author Profile, make a request for an alteration using the web forms for an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/service.elsevier.com\/app\/answers\/detail\/a_id\/14550\/c\/14687\/supporthub\/scopuscontent\/\">Author Profile Correction.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>ORCiD<\/h2>\n<h4>You have already created an ORCiD<\/h4>\n<p>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/\">ORCiD<\/a> website and enter your ORCiD number in the grey search box.\u00a0 You will be able to see your profile.\u00a0 Sign in, and you can edit your record using the link at the top.\u00a0 If you have forgotten your password, click the link and an option to reset will be sent to the email address you registered with.<\/p>\n<p>If you have forgotten your ORCiD number, search for your name\u00a0in the grey search box at the top of your page. Click on the ORCiD number to see further details. From here you can edit your profile as above.\u00a0 If lots of versions of your name appear which may be you, click on each one until you find the profile which matches, and then log in as above.<\/p>\n<h4>You don&#8217;t have an ORCiD<\/h4>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have an ORCiD follow the instructions on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/research\/orcid\/index.html\">webpag<\/a>e to register for one in Krimson.<\/p>\n<h4>Your ORCiD profile needs updating<\/h4>\n<p>If your ORCiD profile is incomplete or out of date:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <strong>Edit your Record<\/strong> in the top bar.<\/li>\n<li>From here you can update your employer\/affiliation, funding details, add other names by which you may be known and add publications\/works to your ORCiD profile.<\/li>\n<li>To add works to your ORCiD profile, select <strong>Works<\/strong> and <strong>+ Add works<\/strong>. You can add publications manually, or choose from a selection of databases to search and link from, including Scopus.<\/li>\n<li>By making your publications and affiliations public you can help make sure you and your work are recognized.<\/li>\n<li>Go to our\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/research\/orcid\/index.html\">webpage<\/a> to link your ORCiD to your profile in Krimson. Follow instructions 1-5 &#8216;How do I get my ORCiD iD?&#8217;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UJBq0f0Qnrs\">ORCiD and Scopus: Manage your author profile<\/a> shows you how to add publications to your ORCiD profile from Scopus and link your Scopus profile to your ORCiD profile.<\/p>\n<h4>Problems accessing your ORCiD profile<\/h4>\n<p>If you have problems accessing your ORCiD account use the <a href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/help\/contact-us\">contact form<\/a> to request help.<\/p>\n<h2>Web of Science<\/h2>\n<h4>Check your publications<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Do not use Internet Explorer because Web of Science doesn&#8217;t work with Internet Explorer. Use any other browser.<\/li>\n<li>Log into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/resources\/e-resources\/a-z\/index.html?tab=w\">Web of Science<\/a> via the Library webpages using your usual University of Kent username and password.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>+More<\/strong> button to display the Author Search option.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your name, research domain and organisation to display.<\/li>\n<li>If publications are not displaying under your name, go back and search for the specific publication using keywords under the Basic search option.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Your publication is not listed or the information is incorrect<\/h4>\n<p>If your publication is not appearing in Web of Science use this <a href=\"http:\/\/ips.clarivate.com\/cgi-bin\/forms\/wok_datachange\/wok-proc.pl\">Data Change request form<\/a>\u00a0to request for it to be added. Select &#8220;missing article&#8221; from the drop down list under &#8220;type of change&#8221;<\/p>\n<h4>The information about your publication is incorrect<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>From the search results click on the document title to see the full details<\/li>\n<li>In the bottom right hand corner select <strong>Suggest a correction<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This will show the Data Change request form populated with the publication details<\/li>\n<li>Use the form to request a change to your author address, name or institution for that publication<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Google Scholar<\/h2>\n<h4>Set up your profile<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Register with <a href=\"https:\/\/scholar.google.co.uk\/\">Google Scholar<\/a>. You may want to use a personal (ie non-Kent) email address so that you keep your access if you move to another university.<\/li>\n<li>If you sign into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/resources\/e-resources\/a-z\/index.html?tab=g\">Google Scholar via the Library webpages<\/a>\u00a0you will be provided with links straight to the articles we have access to at the University<\/li>\n<li>Set up your profile and link publications to your profile using Google&#8217;s instructions<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Your profile needs updating<\/h4>\n<p>To edit your profile and update your affiliation, select <strong>My Profile<\/strong> from the top let hand corner, then click on the <strong>pen symbol<\/strong> next to your name.<\/p>\n<h4>Publications are missing or incorrectly associated with your profile<\/h4>\n<p>To add publications to your profile, select the <strong>+ symbol<\/strong> in the grey bar at the top of your publication list. Select <strong>Add articles<\/strong>. This will generate a list from which you can select publications.<\/p>\n<p>If your publication is not shown in the auto-generated list, you can add it manually, Click on the <strong>+ symbol<\/strong> in the grey bar and select <strong>add article manually<\/strong>. Fill in the bibliographic details in the form.<\/p>\n<p>To remove publications or edit them from your profile, click on the publication title to see the full details. Select the <strong>rubbish bin symbol<\/strong> to delete an item from your profile and the <strong>pen symbol<\/strong> to edit<\/p>\n<h4>Monitor updates to your profile<\/h4>\n<p>By default Google will automatically link publications to your profile.
