New KAR “How to” guides

The KAR (Kent Academic Repository) web page has been updated, and we now have a suite of guides to help you to add your publications to KAR

As well as the updated “Get started with KAR” and “Adding records manually” guides, we have added a number of new guides about how to:

  • Ensure the details of your research works are included or excluded from your School staff profile
  • Set up Saved Searches and export the information you require. This includes how to use Dashboards to gather statistics for downloads etc.
  • Import publication details into KAR using DOIs or other identifiers. Or import multiple publications from various sources. This is particularly useful if you are a new member of staff and you wish to export your research output details from your previous Institutional Repository.
  • Make your publications accessible

If you need any assistance using KAR, or you are a new member of staff and would like to have a chat about your publications and how the IS Research Support team can help you, please email
