From Mon 16 December – Fri 20 December, essential electrical testing will be carried out in the Templeman Library. This mandatory maintenance occurs every 5 years to ensure the building’s electrical systems remain safe and fully compliant.
Schedule of Work
- Mon 16 Dec: Testing across Floor 3 and parts of Floor 2
- Tues 17 Dec: Finishing testing on Floor 2, moving into Floor 1.
- Wed 18 Dec: Full power shutdown across entire building between 6.00 AM – 7.00 AM. Power will be restored before the library opens 8.00 AM. Testing will then continue the Ground Floor for the rest of the day.
- Thursday, 19 December: Testing in the Archives (Basement)
This work has been scheduled during a week where the library is operating on shorter opening hours of 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Visit our website to view our full Winter Break opening hours.
What This Means for You
- There will be brief intermittent interruptions to power supply on the library floor being tested at that time.
- Library PCs, shared printers, and other electrical equipment that is reliant on being plugged in will likely experience short reboot/restarts when power is switched off and on.
What Will Not Be Affected
- Wi-Fi, personal laptops (not reliant on charge), and areas outside the floor being tested at that time will continue to function as normal.
- Email, Teams, VPN and other digital services accessed via personal or off-site devices will remain unaffected.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete this vital work. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch.
