What are you doing to chill out?

Whilst we continue to adapt to new routines and rhythms with working and studying from home, keeping our well-being in check is more important than ever.

We know that many of you loved our Chill Out Zone in the Templeman Library, and regret to say that it will remain closed for the foreseeable future. We checked our feedback box recently and found some wonderful suggestions for furnishing and activities! We hope to bring lots of your suggestions to life when the chill-out room reopens, and we promise to keep you posted on developments.

In the meantime, we wondered how we could ensure you have some of the benefits in your own homes. If you haven’t already, please check out the fantastic suggestions put together by Abigail Heath, one of your excellent subject librarians: https://blogs.kent.ac.uk/isnews/resources-for-self-isolation/

We know that many appreciated the Lego, jigsaw and colouring books in the chill-out room. These activities are all pretty great for self-isolation and will help you take those important breaks away from your screens. We want to see what else you’ve been getting up to during your chill-out time too! Have you been getting crafty or perhaps taken up a new hobby? Tag us @UKCLibraryIT on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook and we can share ideas to help one another.

We also know that many enjoyed the opportunity to kick back on a bean bag with friends. Changing from a desk to a sofa is a great of switching things up. We also strongly recommend connecting virtually with friends through What’sApp, Skype or FaceTime to check in and encourage each other! Again, share your chill-out moments by tagging us @UKCLibraryIT

Stay well.

The Chill Out Zone Team.
