Celebrate Shakepeare in the Templeman Library

Exhibition of Shakespeare resources from 23 April 2025

April 23 is the birthday of William Shakespeare. To mark this occasion, we are launching a display that highlights the vast array of resources we have on the Bard within our library collections.

Books

We provide access to all Shakespeare’s works either in digital or printed formats.

You can read criticism and analysis of Shakespeare, as well as debates on the authenticity of the work.

Theatrical productions and Films

You can enjoy watching both film or theatrical productions of Shakepeare’s work.

These can be accessed via our DVD collection or one of our digital streaming services. These inlcude Drama Online and Digital Theatre + for exclusive productions from the National Theatre and the Globe.

Special Collections

Our special collections offer a vast array of unique Shakespeare resources from folios, playbills and early publications.

Special collections & archives will be hosting a talk entitled ‘Shakespeare’s Birth Year’  by Dr. Rory Loughnane, Reader in Early Modern Studies at Kent on 8 May 11:00 in A108.

There will also be an opportunity to look at Shakespeare related material in the Reading room from 11:00 – 13:00 the same day.

Get involved

Come and visit our literature highlights section in Block D, Floor 1 as well to find lots more Shakespeare related books and DVDs  and we invite you to share with us your favourite Shakespearean phrase  – there are so many to choose from in daily use.
