Congratulations to\u00a0MSc Electronic Engineering (by Research)<\/a>\u00a0student Bamidele Ogunjumelo who has won the Runner Up Best Presentation award at the\u00a03rd IEEE UK&I YP Postgrad STEM Research Symposium<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The symposium provided the opportunity for early career STEM researchers to present their research, receive feedback, and explore the possibilities of turning research to enterprise.<\/p>\n

At the symposium, Bamidele presented his research on\u00a0Volumetric Reconstruction of Burner Flames through Deep Learning,\u00a0<\/em>which is supervised by\u00a0Dr Md Moinul Hossain<\/a>, Lecturer in Electronic Engineering, and\u00a0Dr Gang Lu<\/a>, Reader in Electronic Instrumentation.<\/p>\n

Bamidele says: \u2018Volumetric tomography is a powerful technique for combustion diagnostics due to its capacity to visualize flame structures in three-dimension (3-D). In this research, we are working on implementing a deep learning-based algorithm for the 3-D reconstruction of burner flames. The main purpose is to improve the 3D reconstruction speed and performance of a deep learning-based 3D rapid \ufb02ame monitoring solution\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018The relevance of this research is that the results from the work could help in providing a combustion diagnostics solution for improving combustion efficiency and reducing pollutant emissions using deep learning\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
