The Global Officers Leadership Development Programme, launched in September 2017, has recently celebrated a successful pilot year.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0co-curricular initiative,\u00a0led by Kent’s\u00a0Dean for Internationalisation <\/a><\/strong>Dr\u00a0Anthony Manning and International Partnerships Directorate,\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>has been designed to encourage students to engage with internationalisation opportunities and\u00a0enhance their global citizenship whilst at Kent.\u00a0The programme provides a framework of activities for students to develop their leadership, project management skills and cultural awareness in a global context. Whilst on the programme Global Officers have a unique opportunity to work with the Dean to support and advise on the range of internationalisation projects, activities and events which take place during the academic year.<\/p>\n A highlight of the\u00a0year-long programme\u00a0was a conference held\u00a0at Europe House in\u00a0London on 11 May,\u00a0with notable speakers in attendance. The\u00a0Head of External Affairs at Universities UK International, Miranda Thomas, delivered an engaging address on ‘lobbying and influencing’ and\u00a0Dr\u00a0Anthony Manning spoke about the\u00a0Kent Global Passport.\u00a0<\/a>Deputy Editor of PIE News Patrick Atack was in attendance and carried out interviews with the students.<\/p>\n International Partnerships Officer Joanna Addison has spoken of her delight at the GOLD programme’s achievement:<\/p>\n “We’re thrilled that\u00a0our Global Officers have each engaged with the programme in unique ways, and we have seen the students develop and grow in confidence. They\u00a0have seized initiative and added value\u00a0to the programme, leading social media campaigns, acting as ambassadors at University events and providing valuable input into the development of internationalisation schemes.\u00a0We have measured the impact of the programme by testing\u00a0our Global Officers’\u00a0cultural intelligence, which\u00a0we’re delighted to say has been improved across the board.
