{"id":672,"date":"2017-06-06T12:39:54","date_gmt":"2017-06-06T11:39:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/internationalpartnerships-news\/?p=672"},"modified":"2017-06-06T12:42:45","modified_gmt":"2017-06-06T11:42:45","slug":"new-student-exchange-agreement-with-university-of-iowa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/internationalpartnerships-news\/2017\/06\/06\/new-student-exchange-agreement-with-university-of-iowa\/","title":{"rendered":"New student exchange agreement with University of Iowa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Kent is delighted to mark the development of a formal student exchange agreement with the <a href=\"https:\/\/uiowa.edu\/\">University of Iowa<\/a>, USA, ranked in the top 250 universities in the world (Times Higher Education, 2017)<\/p>\n<p>The University of Iowa (UI) is based in the heart of Iowa, a city that is one of just 20 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iowacityofliterature.org\/\">UNESCO Cities of Literature<\/a> in the world, and the only one in the United States. As an established\u00a0research-led institution, UI offers more than 200 different academic areas of study for students to explore across the arts, sciences and humanities.<\/p>\n<p>The signing of the agreement between Kent and UI provides the opportunity for undergraduate students across both institutions to experience a different culture, gain a new academic perspective, establish international contacts and enhance their\u00a0employability.\u00a0With a history of successful research links between the\u00a0Universities,\u00a0Kent is delighted to continue\u00a0developing its partnership with\u00a0UI through the signing of this new agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The Exchange Agreement\u00a0was formally signed this May by Kent&#8217;s Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor David Nightingale\u00a0and UI&#8217;s Associate Provost and Dean of International Programmes, Professor Downing Thomas. The signing\u00a0was followed up by a meeting in June between Cory\u00a0Petersen, UI&#8217;s Senior Study Abroad Advisor &amp; Program Coordinator and Hazel Lander,\u00a0Study Abroad &amp; Exchanges Officer at the 2017\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nafsa.org\/Annual_Conference\/Annual_Conference___Expo\/\">NAFSA international conference<\/a>, to\u00a0discuss the operational detail of the exchange.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Kent&#8217;s strong global impact is based on our external networks, partnerships with leading universities in Europe and around the world, and our staff, students and alumni.
