{"id":638,"date":"2017-05-09T17:01:51","date_gmt":"2017-05-09T16:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/internationalpartnerships-news\/?p=638"},"modified":"2017-05-10T16:31:49","modified_gmt":"2017-05-10T15:31:49","slug":"kents-first-phd-student-exchange-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/internationalpartnerships-news\/2017\/05\/09\/kents-first-phd-student-exchange-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent\u2019s first PhD student exchange agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Kent has established an exciting new doctoral student exchange agreement with the University of Melbourne (MLS), that will allow Kent research\u00a0students a wonderful opportunity to spend a period of their research studies at MLS, and vice-versa.<\/p>\n<p>The opportunity has been set up between Melbourne Law School and Kent Law School specifically, and is designed to provide opportunity for doctoral research students to engage and experience the academic culture at another world-leading law school, promote cultural exchange, as well as facilitate the growth of professional and research links between the institutions.<\/p>\n<p>As Kent\u2019s first doctoral student exchange agreement, we are delighted to be partnering with Melbourne Law School, known for its vibrant student community, strong global outlook, excellent academic reputation, and world-ranking research impact. This sits in harmony with Kent Law School, widely regarded as a centre of excellence in legal research and teaching, as evidenced by its rating as the<strong>\u00a08th best Law School<\/strong>\u00a0in the UK for &#8216;Research Intensity&#8217; in the Research Excellence Framework (2014).<\/p>\n<p>The exchange programme was set up by Kent Law School&#8217;s Rose Parfitt, who is currently based at Melbourne Law School,\u00a0where she&#8217;s\u00a0undertaking\u00a0an Australian Research Council\u00a0(ARC)-funded research project. Dr. Parfitt said: &#8216;I&#8217;m so happy that the arrangements for this\u00a0exchange programme have now been finalised, and that both\u00a0institutions have supported\u00a0the idea so warmly. It&#8217;s a fantastic opportunity for\u00a0doctoral\u00a0students at both law schools\u00a0to build new relationships with\u00a0peers, mentors and research centres,\u00a0and to\u00a0become part of\u00a0new collaborative projects that might well alter the course of their careers forever&#8217;. \u200b<\/p>\n<p>The University of Kent is committed to driving forward the development of a range of global partnership activity.
