{"id":106,"date":"2013-10-08T10:46:16","date_gmt":"2013-10-08T09:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/internationalpartnerships-news\/?p=106"},"modified":"2016-06-14T10:46:53","modified_gmt":"2016-06-14T09:46:53","slug":"kents-internationalisation-activities-tops-agenda-for-chinese-embassy-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/internationalpartnerships-news\/2013\/10\/08\/kents-internationalisation-activities-tops-agenda-for-chinese-embassy-visit\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent\u2019s internationalisation activities tops agenda for Chinese Embassy visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent\u2019s collaborative work in China and its long-term internationalisation strategy were highlighted during a meeting with Mr Shen Yang, Minister Counsellor for Education at the Chinese Embassy (London).<\/p>\n<p>During his visit on 30 September to the University\u2019s Canterbury campus, the Minister Counsellor was particularly keen to learn about the opportunities for exchange placements between Chinese and UK students. He also expressed an interest in the Kent\u2019s fundraising and Hong Kong\/China Portal projects, and its links with universities in those territories, as well as the large number of Kent students undertaking exchanges between the two regions.<\/p>\n<p>In a meeting with Kent\u2019s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dame Julia Goodfellow, Pro-Vice-Chancellor External Professor Alex Hughes and representatives of its academic schools and International Development Office, the Minister Counsellor received updates on the achievements of the Hong Kong\/China Portal since its launch in 2010. He also learned about Kent\u2019s Sir David Akers-Jones Hong Kong and China Fund \u2013 a bursary designed to promote student study and work placements abroad \u2013 and the University\u2019s involvement with the European Commission-funded Erasmus Mundus Action 2 EU-Asian Mobility Project, LOTUS Unlimited. Kent\u2019s strategic partnerships with universities in Hong Kong and mainland China were a further discussion topic.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister Counsellor was accompanied on his visit by First Secretary Wang Huanxian.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Hughes said: \u2018We were delighted to have hosted this visit by the Minister Counsellor and Mr Wang.
