On Thursday 12th January the University of Kent had the pleasure of receiving a delegation from Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany, one of our strategic partners with whom we are involved in a range of collaborative activities across a number of Kent academic schools.
The delegation, led by Marburg’s Vice President Professor Frank Bremmer, was hosted by Professor Alex Hughes, Pro Vice Chancellor External, and included staff representing Economics, Psychology, Politics and International Relations, Language and Linguistics, Biosciences and International Development Offices who were joined by their Kent counterparts.
Kent and Marburg have enjoyed a long-standing staff and student exchange partnership for many years and over recent years have strengthened and deepened their ties via annual meetings (alternating between Marburg and Kent) following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in 2009.
The fruits of this strategic partnership include a joint MA in Peace and Conflict Studies, due to be submitted for funding from the prestigious Erasmus Mundus programme, a range of staff and student exchanges in the subject areas mentioned above, and collaboration in the area of Quality Assurance and Quality Enhancement.
This latest meeting resulted in agreements to develop further opportunities in PG research training, co-supervision of PhDs, Erasmus Intensive Programmes (summer schools) and expansion of staff and student exchange.
