A warm welcome to colleagues from University of Malaya

Communications, corporate relations and the research awards process were among the topics discussed during the visit to Kent's Canterbury campus on 21 and 22 September.

Representing the University of Malaya (UM) were Dr Evelyn Khor, Director of International & Corporate Relations, and Mr Mohd Firdaus Zainal Abidin, Officer in charge of research proposals and grant allocations. They were joined by Dr Ping Jack Soh, Deputy Dean for Research Management and Innovation and Senior Lecturer at the School of Computer and Communication Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Perlis.

The delegation was welcomed by Dr Anthony Manning, Dean for Internationalisation; Professor Roger Vickerman, Dean for Europe; Hannah McNorton, Director of International Partnerships; Phil Ward, Deputy Director of Research Services; and Posie Bogan, Director of Corporate Communications.

Representatives from the Centre for English and World Languages (CEWL) and the schools of Computing, European Culture and Languages (SECL) and Social Policy, Sociology  & Social Research (SSPSSR) also met with colleagues from UM.

UM is Malaysia’s oldest university and the premier research intensive university in the country, ranked 133 in the 2016 QS rankings.

It is comprised of 12 faculties: Faculty of Medicine; Faculty of Built Environment; Faculty of Economics and Administration; Faculty of Business and Accountancy; Faculty of Education; Faculty of Science; Faculty of Languages and Linguistics; Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology; Academy of Malay Studies; Academy of Islamic Studies; Cultural Centre; Sports Centre, and Centre for Foundation Studies.
