Erasmus+ supports capacity building project with Nigerian university

The University of Kent ran a week-long capacity building programme for a group of nine academic staff from the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) in Nigeria as part of an Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility project in March 2019.

AE-FUNAI was established in 2011 by the Federal Government in Nigeria as part of an initiative to establish universities in the areas of the country where previously higher education provision was lacking.

Kent was successful in a funding bid under the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programmes to run a project aimed at helping AE-FUNAI to develop its research and PhD supervision capacity.

During the training visit, the group from AE-FUNAI attended workshops delivered by the following Kent departments:

  • Unit for Enhancement of Learning and Teaching
  • Centre for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships
  • Graduate School
  • International Partnerships
  • Research Services

The visit was rounded off with a lunch combined with a gathering of Kent’s International Visiting Academic Network.
