University of Kent student George Woolven has won a British Council Scholarship for Excellence and is now studying at the prestigious University of Hong Kong for a full academic year. George studies History and Politics, and the year will provide a fantastic opportunity for him to diversify his knowledge and skills in a different educational and cultural environment.
The Scholarships for Excellence are offered by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and are worth up to £3,000, depending on how long the recipients stay in Hong Kong.
By going to Hong Kong, students get to experience the vibrant East-West lifestyle of the former British territory and now Special Administrative Region of China, and learn about a region of vital economic and cultural importance to the UK.
Historical links between the UK and Hong Kong, and the strength of Hong Kong universities, make Hong Kong an excellent option for UK students. You can pursue your own subjects, taught in English, while exploring a new culture and friendships. Credits earned in Hong Kong will be transferable to your UK degree.
