What is Europe Day?
Europe Day, is the anniversary of the ‘Schuman declaration’. Speaking in Paris in 1950, Robert Schuman (the French foreign minister) proposed a new form of political cooperation for Europe, which would make war between Europe’s nations unthinkable.
Schuman’s proposal is considered to be the beginning of what is now the European Union and 9th May is now celebrated as a key moment in the creation of the EU. For more information please visit the website of the European Union
Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate Europe Day with us and we look forward to seeing you on 9th April!
