{"id":370,"date":"2022-02-16T14:54:32","date_gmt":"2022-02-16T14:54:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/institute-cultural-creative-industries-news\/?p=370"},"modified":"2022-02-16T14:54:32","modified_gmt":"2022-02-16T14:54:32","slug":"call-for-art-work-young-artists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/institute-cultural-creative-industries-news\/2022\/02\/16\/call-for-art-work-young-artists\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Art work &#8211; Young Artists"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Unfiltered Coast Exhibition<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Call for Artwork (all forms accepted)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Are you a young artist concerned about climate change?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Do you want the chance to display your work in a public venue?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you live, work or study in Kent?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are looking for submissions for an art exhibition from young people (aged 14-20).<\/p>\n<p>The artwork must focus on the issue of coastal climate change with the key theme of water crisis: flooding, contamination, shortage. The work can be general or specific to Kent.<\/p>\n<p>The art work can take various forms, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visual work: painting, drawing, photography, film\/moving image, mixed media<\/li>\n<li>Literary work: poetry, flash fiction, short stories, essays<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are also interested in submissions that combine word and image for the purpose of climate change protest and activism. For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Posters, banners<\/li>\n<li>Cartoons, graphic illustrations<\/li>\n<li>Memes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The exhibition will open at the <a href=\"https:\/\/thegulbenkian.co.uk\/\">Gulbenkian Arts Centre,<\/a> Canterbury, in late April.<\/p>\n<p>We are also investigating the possibility of a second venue in Ramsgate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Submission deadline: Wed 30 March (to allow time for framing and installation)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submission details:<\/p>\n<p>Work that can be submitted online should be sent to Lavinia Brydon: <a href=\"mailto:l.brydon@kent.ac.uk\">l.brydon@kent.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Please notify Lavinia of any printing, framing or technical requirements for the work.<\/p>\n<p>If the work is too large to send via email (e.g. a video file), please contact Lavinia for an alternative submission route.<\/p>\n<p>If the work is fine art, please email Lavinia with an image and dimensions so that she can arrange an alternative submission route.<\/p>\n<p>All work should include a short artist statement, with the following details:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>title of work and name of artist<\/li>\n<li>description of work, including any notes on medium or techniques used<\/li>\n<li>notes on your inspiration and how the work fits with the exhibition\u2019s theme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will include as many submissions as the space permits. Multiple submissions are allowed.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition forms part of a project called Unfiltered Coast, led by staff at the University of Kent.
