Job vacancies for 2 Lead Artists and up to 10 Session Artists

Kent County Council in partnership with the University of Kent and Artswork are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of the second phase of our highly successful project for very young children and their families in Kent – Playground. The majority of sessions will take place in the morning in libraries and early years settings in Kent.

We are looking for two experienced, socially motivated artists, one a musician and one a theatre maker/dancer or visual artist. You will have experience or interest in working with early years children (ages 0-2) and their families. These roles would suit someone based in (or within easy access of) Kent. Exceptional creative skills and people skills are both required, as this role involves creative programming and planning, as well as hands-on delivery of participatory arts experiences.

You will work closely with the Creative Director supporting the logistical and practical project planning as well as supporting a range of multi-disciplinary sessional artists. As lead artists, you will undertake Artist-led research mentored by highly experienced academics from the University of Kent and University of Stavanger.

We are also looking to recruit up to ten creative practitioners from a range of disciplines to work with our two Lead Artists. You will have experience or interest in working with early years children (ages 0-2) and their families. The role would suit someone based in (or within easy access of) Kent and may suit someone at an early stage in their career as you will be supported with mentoring and training from highly experienced artists and professionals.

Playground commences on Monday 18 October 2021 and will run until 6 May 2022. You will need to be available for 2 full days of in person training and mentoring on the 18th and 19th October.
