Graduate profile – Oliver James

Philosophy graduate, 2010

My primary interests while studying at Kent were ethics, human rights and religion. I particularly enjoyed learning about Just War theory and the evolution of ethics which I later applied to my international development career in Israel/Palestine and Liberia. I used famous theories and comparisons between Islam and Judaism to lead conversations on forgiveness and rehabilitation between Israelis and Palestinians and assisted in the treatment of Liberian ex-combatants suffering from PTSD. I am currently looking to enrol in an International Development Master’s degree with a particular focus on aid and refugee rights to further my understanding of the subject and to help advance my career.
