Kent MBA students recently benefited from the programme’s annual European study trip to Athens to explore Greece’s economic crisis. During the week, our MBA students visited the European Commission Office, Athens University of Economics and Business, social enterprises and innovative organisations. The theme of the week focussed on creativity and innovation that emerged from the country’s financial crisis, with presentations from leading academics such as Dr Olivia Kyriakidou from Athens University of Economics and Business on using design thinking to resolve social issues. The group also visited leading innovative organisations such as natural cosmetics company APIVITA, a champion of societal, environmental and economic value creation. After a tour of APIVITA’s factory, the company’s founder Mr Nikos Koutsiana shared how social responsibility, tradition and innovation have been instrumental to APIVITA’s success.
