Participation in the USA Global Enterprise Student Competition

Our team Codable – Sybil Mayard and Olcay Kilincci – with Enterprise and Relationship Manager Marcus Wright (UoK) left for Virginia Tech, USA to represent UK in the Global Entrepreneurship Challenge 2018

It started back in February…

Here at the Hub for Innovation and Enterprise we run the Big Ideas competition each year to select our UK participant(s). Although Sybil (School of Computing) originally presented alone, she is  joined by Olcay (Kent Business School) to add a multi-disciplinary approach to the team. Check out our winning team HERE.

Team Codable have the chance to compete for a $30,000 Grand Prize, $10,000 Second Place Prize, and $5,000 People’s Choice Award.  In previous years, we have come runner up and two years ago secured the people’s choice award (audience vote).

The preparation took about two month with regular mentoring and polishing from our KIE (Kent Innovation and Enterprise) duo Marcus Wright (Enterprise and Relationship Manager) and Gary Robinson (Senior Commercialisation Officer) in cooperation with our external mentor Jenny Kitchen of YoYo Design and wonderful video work of Becky Simms from ReflectDigital.

Although the competition takes up the entire week the actual pitch will be on Thursday 23rd August.  The good news is that if interested you are able to stream it live on the following web link:

Our team Codable is on at approx. 3.20pm (USA Time) that equates to 8.20pm (UK Time).

We will be live tweeting during the week so please take a look at @unikenthub for more updates throughout!  LinkedIn posts will also be appearing during the week posted via our showcase page: UniKentHub on Linkedin

Go, team Codable!
