{"id":126,"date":"2014-10-13T16:15:05","date_gmt":"2014-10-13T16:15:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/history\/?p=126"},"modified":"2019-03-08T10:36:18","modified_gmt":"2019-03-08T10:36:18","slug":"alumni-reunion-day-is-a-big-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/history\/2014\/10\/13\/alumni-reunion-day-is-a-big-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Alumni Reunion Day is a big success!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The School of History&#8217;s second annual Alumni Reunion Day was a big success, with nearly 200 former students and staff arriving on campus on Saturday 11th October for the event.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights included a tour of Canterbury Cathedral, a trip on the Kent Wheel, and the chance to have<span class=\"text_exposed_show\"> memories recorded by our History Projects team. Professor Kenneth Fincham, Head of School,\u00a0gave a presentation on \u201850 Years of History at Kent: Past, Present and Future\u2019, and a number of information stands gave details on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/ww1\/\">Gateways to the First World War Project<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/mems\/\">The Centre for Medieval and Early Modern Studies<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/peic.org.uk\/\">The Centre for Political Economies of International Commerce<\/a>, The Clergy of the Church of England Database 1540-1835, and DocExplore, a programme that creates interactive digital versions of historical manuscripts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The day was rounded off with a lecture from Professor Grayson Ditchfield on &#8216;1714 \u2013 A Hanoverian anniversary\u2019, and a drinks reception.<\/p>\n<p>It was great to welcome so many former students and staff, thanks to everyone who came &#8211; hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did!<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style
