The impressive quality of the School of History’s work was confirmed this week, with the publication of the national Research Excellence Framework (REF) results for 2014.
The results place the School 8th nationally for Research Intensity, with 70% of the School’s research overall ranked as being world-leading (receiving the maximum 4* rating), or internationally excellent (3*).
Measured every six years, the Research Excellence Framework (REF) is a national review of university research, assessing the quality of work being undertaken based on factors such as output, impact outside of academia, and environment supporting the research.
Since the last review in 2008, the School of History has grown in size, with 42% more full-time academic staff.
