The School of History is currently looking for History / Military History / American Studies students currently in their first or second year of study (or those staying on at Masters level) to join the History Ambassador Scheme for the First World War Schools Project, and would like to invite you to apply. Although we welcome applicants with an interest in any area of history, we would particularly like to hear from those of you with an interest, or who are studying, any aspect of the First World War.

The First World War Schools Project aims to bring schools and academic departments in the humanities at the University of Kent together to commemorate the centenary of the war. Supported by the Partnership Development Office and the Gateways to the First World War research centre, the project intends to encourage school students to learn more about the war, in a variety of ways and through different subject areas, to raise aspiration, attainment, and awareness of the conflict.

The History Ambassador Scheme is made up of several paid roles, with responsibilities ranging from assisting with campus visits and tours, working closely with small groups of students in schools, to helping to deliver a range of sessions, over a period of time, about the First World War. In the first instance, you will have the opportunity to support a range of summer activities during late June and early July. Thereafter, there will be the opportunity to work on a variety of events during the next academic year. Even if you cannot attend the summer events please do still consider applying. There will also be opportunities to work as an ambassador for the School of History more broadly, on Open Days, Visit Days etc.

As a History Ambassador you will develop invaluable transferable skills that will assist you in getting a job after you graduate, particularly if you are interested in pursuing a career in teaching. For more information about the Student Ambassador Scheme, such as the different roles available, rates of pay, and other vacancies please visit https://www.kent.ac.uk/ambassadors/
