The School is taking part in Humanities for Hire, a two-week series of employability talks, skills workshops, and other events intended specifically for Humanities students. I wanted to write to you to highlight a few sessions being particularly run by the School of History, but I would strongly encourage you to have a look through the full programme of events to see what might be relevant to you.

Graduate Schemes – Where? Why? How?

GLT3, 5pm, Wed 15th

Graduate schemes are among the best ways to kick-start your career after leaving university, and the most competitive schemes open to applications early each year. This session will bring together a panel of Kent alumni who have gone on to attain places on graduate schemes with the Civil Service, the NHS, Network Rail, and Lloyd’s Banking Group, to discuss how they found and applied for their schemes, and their experiences of them. There will be a drinks reception after this talk. Head to http://bit.ly/2lGTddY to book your place.

There are loads of events going on over the next few weeks, and there will almost certainly be something for you. Whether you fancy yourself a writer, or if you are thinking about a career in the film industry; if you want to hone your job-hunting skills or your study skills; if you just want to find a paying job you can do alongside your degree – there is something for you going on during Humanities for Hire.
