At Kent we’re a community who look out for each other. Here are a few ways to keep yourself and your friends safe:
Download the SafeZone app
SafeZone is a free campus safety app for all students and staff, which gives you quick access to first aid, security or safety assistance.
SafeZone is an easy way to connect to Campus Security, who are on campus 24/7 365 days a year!
During your time at university it can feel like there is a pressure to drink alcohol. If you don’t fancy drinking alcohol, that’s completely fine and you’re not alone.
If you or your friends are drinking alcohol, look out for each other. Don’t leave your drink unattended, and never accept a drink from a stranger or someone you don’t trust.
If you start to feel ill or drunk when you know you shouldn’t, your drink could have been spiked. If so, tell someone you trust and get to a safe place.
Plan your journey home
Always plan your journey home and stick with your friends. The Uni2 bus in Canterbury is a 24 hour service between the city centre and campus.
If you are getting a taxi make sure it is registered.
If you ever find yourself in an emergency situation where you need to take a taxi back to campus or to the police or hospital, you can use the student safe taxi scheme to get a registered taxi back to campus and pay the funds later.
Campus Security also offer a free walking taxi service on campus so you don’t need to walk alone.
Pick up a free personal safety alarm
You can pick up a free personal safety alarm from Campus Security.
How to contact Campus Security
You can contact Campus Security through the SafeZone app, or by calling 01227 823300 (non-emergency) or 01227 823333 (emergency).
