It is most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be used for other emotional and physical health problems.<\/p>\n<p>Care first has developed a market leading \u2018online\u2019 CBT programme, which is video based and therapist supported.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What is cCBT?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>cCBT teaches the principles of cognitive behaviour therapy via interactive lessons over the internet. Lessons can be completed over several weeks, and usually one or two lessons are assigned for each week. Clinician assisted cCBT is also available in which the patient can get support from a trained professional, either online, over the phone or in person.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How does it work?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle. CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;re shown how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel. Unlike some other talking treatments, CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past. It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What are the benefits of cCBT rather than traditional CBT?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You can get treatment in the comfort of your own home<\/strong> &#8211; You don\u2019t have to travel to attend an appointment, which can often mean having to book a few hours off work.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You won\u2019t need to take time off work<\/strong> &#8211; Online CBT can be accessed at any time of the day or night, and also at the weekends.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nobody needs to know you\u2019re having CBT<\/strong> &#8211; You can have treatment discreetly and anonymously, without family, friends or colleagues knowing about it, if you\u2019d rather they didn\u2019t. If you want to, you can tell your GP about your treatment, but this is completely up to you.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You can \u2018relive\u2019 your sessions whenever you like<\/strong> &#8211; It can be hard to recall everything that happened in your last therapy session one week later, never mind in three months\u2019 time \u2013 particularly if you\u2019re struggling to concentrate or remember things. With online therapy you have a complete written record of all the contact you\u2019ve had with your counsellor at Care first, including every session and any messages in between.
