Organ Donation Awareness Week 7th – 13th September 2020

The NHS uses Organ Donation Week to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation. The system for organ donation within England changed on the 20th May 2020 from an ‘opt-in’ system to an ‘opt-out’ system. This means that previously you would have been asked to sign up to the organ donation donor list and now you are asked to decide if you wish to opt-out.

For more information about this change to the law please use this link: Organ Donation Law in England Factsheet

Below are some useful links to find out more about the different aspects of the organ donation process:

World Alzheimer’s Month Sept 2020

Every September is World Alzheimer’s  month. This international campaign is organised by the Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI).

The campaign is to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds dementia. World Alzheimer’s Month was launched in 2012. World Alzheimer’s Day is on 21 September each year.

2 out of every 3 people globally believe there is little or no understanding of dementia in their countries. The impact of World Alzheimer’s Month is growing, but the stigmatisation and misinformation that surrounds dementia remains a global problem that requires global action.
