{"id":1973,"date":"2021-05-21T17:33:24","date_gmt":"2021-05-21T16:33:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/graduateschoolnews\/?p=1973"},"modified":"2021-05-21T17:33:24","modified_gmt":"2021-05-21T16:33:24","slug":"undergraduate-summer-vacation-research-competition-winners-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/graduate-researcher-college-studenthub\/2021\/05\/21\/undergraduate-summer-vacation-research-competition-winners-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Undergraduate Summer Vacation Research Competition winners announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Graduate and Researcher College is pleased to announce the undergraduate winners of the Summer Vacation Research Competition 2021:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Penelope Agranov<\/li>\n<li>Ellie Crocker<\/li>\n<li>Carl Grevel<\/li>\n<li>Jodie Harbour<\/li>\n<li>Jonathan Hobbs<\/li>\n<li>Sophie Laxton<\/li>\n<li>Caitlin Moriaty<\/li>\n<li>Katie Town<\/li>\n<li>Juancarlos Valero.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These enthusiastic and motivated students will be employed as Research Assistants on a range of bespoke projects taking place in summer 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Managed by our cohort of <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/graduateschoolnews\/2021\/03\/17\/summer-vacation-research-competition-2021-winners-announced\/\">early career researcher winners<\/a>, the students will gain valuable experience of working on real-life projects and thus learn more about the world of research whilst simultaneously boosting their CVs.<\/p>\n<p>Hannah Greer, Work-Study Scheme Coordinator, highlighted the benefits of participation in the scheme for both researchers and undergraduates:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Summer Vacation Research Competition offers a unique chance to expand your skills no matter where you are on your early career path. Whether a postdoc looking to undertake additional project or line management, or a student wondering what the world of research is all about, the competition will broaden your horizons and skills set in a structured and supportive environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Applications for this innovative opportunity for second and third-year students were managed by the Careers and Employability Service through its Work Study Scheme which helps students gain confidence and overcome barriers to graduate-level work.<\/p>\n<p>For further information or to advertise an opportunity to students, please contact <a href=\"mailto:workstudy@kent.ac.uk\">workstudy@kent.ac.uk<\/a>.
