The World Conference on Women of 1995 in Beijing was a watershed for the global women\u2019s movement, as well as for the feminist movement in China. This widely attended conference produced the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA) as its outcome document. Since 1995, the BPfA has served to guide the work of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) as well as the commitments of UN member states to empower women and girls. In 2025, the CSW will mark the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, alongside the 15th anniversary of UN Women. This milestone offers a pivotal opportunity to celebrate global progress in gender equality while also highlighting the areas that still require focused attention.<\/p>\n
Join us with Xingjuan Wang<\/strong>, a leading Chinese feminist activist and founder of the Maple Women\u2019s Hotline, China\u2019s first civil organization for women\u2019s rights, as we reflect on the world\u2019s most progressive blueprint for gender equality and engage in a dialogue about the future.<\/p>\n It will feature conversations between Xingjuan Wang, Rosemary Barberet<\/strong> (ISA Representative to the UN), Dawn Beichner-Thomas <\/strong>(World Society of Victimology Representative to the UN) and Sheetal Ranjan <\/strong>(representing the Division of Feminist Criminology of the American Society of Criminology).
