{"id":618,"date":"2024-09-26T11:56:58","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T10:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-science-and-epistemic-justice\/?p=618"},"modified":"2024-09-26T17:35:52","modified_gmt":"2024-09-26T16:35:52","slug":"unesco-empowering-the-global-community-through-scientific-literacy-roundtable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-science-and-epistemic-justice\/2024\/09\/26\/unesco-empowering-the-global-community-through-scientific-literacy-roundtable\/","title":{"rendered":"UNESCO Empowering the Global Community Through Scientific Literacy Roundtable"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the invitation of the UNESCO\u2019s Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences, GSEJ Director Joy Zhang attended the roundtable discussion on \u201cEmpowering the Global Community Through Scientific Literacy\u201d on 24 September at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>The objective of the Roundtable is to bring together international experts in the field of science communication, science popularization, science education, and science policy to reflect on a strategy for promoting science literacy as an important lever for the achievement of the expected outcomes of the United Nations International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development 2024 \u2013 2034.<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting, Professor Zhang made the following three suggestions:<\/p>\n<p>1-Enhancing science literacy is not just about progress or development.
